Louise the founder of Country and Coastal Retreats has been passionate about sports and fitness from a young age. Growing up in the tranquil setting of North Devon, she has developed her skills and knowledge over the years within the fitness industry from massage therapy to training as an exercise referral instructor through GP referrals. Whilst pursuing her dreams, Louise has been progressing towards a Hons degree in Business management.

Louise also has an ambition for helping others to achieve their personal goals in physical fitness, weight loss and wellness. Therefore, over the last few years, Louise’s goal and dream have been to apply her knowledge and skills to develop health and well-being retreats across the UK in remote areas within the country or near the coast. This year, she has been given the exciting opportunity to run retreats in Sri Lanka as well as the UK.
This next adventure will create an experience for her clients, involving locally sourced foods, highly skilled instructors, and a wealth of different activities all within carefully selected serene venues; the perfect balance of fitness and relaxation. The retreats will be away from the hustle and bustle of fast-paced cities, but with easy access to make it possible for all to reach.Each retreat offers rustic yet modern accommodation in idyllic settings. They will not only test your fitness levels but allow you time to relax and unwind, with a mixture of physical, spiritual and nutritional elements to help you leave in a healthier frame of mind. You will work to build a stronger body through Pilates, bodyweight exercises, core classes and yoga style stretch. You will have the chance to try spiritual activities such as reiki to clear your mind and relax your body. Lastly, your taste buds will be in heaven from a range of new and varied foods.
These retreats are not a fad diet, silent retreat or starvation boot camp. You are burning a lot of energy in the day, with a varied activity schedule. What we do not want is for you to feel starved. You will have an evening meal on the day you arrive, followed by three meals a day whilst you are staying with us and breakfast on the morning you leave. There will be an onsite cook who will prepare your meals and offer cooking demonstrations, so you know how to prepare the foods that you eat. Fantastic for when you get home.
During the retreats, you will be able to do a numerous amount of activities depending on the location and the type of retreat you have booked. The Devon retreat has unlimited access to the pool and sauna, while at the Sri Lankan retreat you have access to the ocean and pool. There are also chances to go rock climbing, surfing and to the aqua park in the Devon retreat. The Sri Lankan retreat is also inclusive of; the turtle sanctuary, Pilates classes, trips to the beach, cooking class, tuk-tuk ride, visit to Buddhist temple and blessing, coastal train ride, surf lesson, Ayurvedic diagnosis and massage and lastly a visit to Galle Fort.
The number one retreat is set in Devon, close to Louise’s hometown. Not only is it her roots, but Louise loves the beautiful rolling hills of Exmoor, rugged coastlines and gorgeous beaches. To share her adoration, the retreat nestlesin the middle of the countryside surrounded by wildlife and nature reserves with only 45 minutes to the coast and 20 minutes from the nearest train station with a direct train to London for an easy commute. This retreat will run once a month, to begin with, and will run all year round exempting December. This is the main retreat with a swimming pool and sauna facility.
